  1. I love the organization and thoroughness of your analysis. Your spreadsheet made this much easier to understand. I liked the standards you chose to focus on. It appears that you could continue the comparison for more grade levels.

  3. Tammy, We have a team coming from my school and each of us will look at a different grade level so that once we have all done this activity we will hopefully have a matrix like this to share with our staff at school. Divide and conquer. :)

  5. Wow, Nancy,
What a beautiful layout! It is so easy to see the comparison between the two sets of standards. Do you think a chart like this might be useful for your teachers? I am a visual learner and I know it would be a great way for me to keep everything in front of me.
    Thanks for your helpful post,

  9. Nancy,
This is an excellent way to show your teachers how integrating the new ITES is a piece of cake! I think that our old technology and information curricula were overwhelming for teachers to be able to make the connection. This is very clear, and I'm sure that, by the time your school team has completed this activity, everyone will know how easy it is to teach...which is so important now that they are expected to teach it!
It would great to use this activity for professional development with my staff. Each grade level can align the standards so that they have a clear understanding of both the ELA common core standards and ITES.
    Thanks for a great entry.

  10. Nancy,
I love the way you set up your blog as a spreadsheet. I can see how this would be a great reference tool if you could print it and keep it in the front of a lesson plan book! There could even be another column added with specific ideas on how to teach these standards in the Media Center, for example.
This opens up all kinds of possibilities!

  11. Nancy,

I'm so glad that you organized the connections between the ELA Common Core and ITES. It helps me see the possible integration between the two at a glance.
Thanks for making integration seem a little easier!
